What began as a passion project has evolved into something more. We’re proud of where we’ve been and even more excited for what’s ahead.

Malchow’s Sport Shop is a family ran business located 1 mile from Long Lake in Saxeville (Wild Rose), WI that has been operating for 30 years and counting by owners Jim and Kris Malchow. In 2010, the original store was struck by lightning and we built back bigger and better! We now have over 7,000 sq. ft. of inventory.

Jim’s original career was focused in the plant industry, specifically the native prairie and aquatic plant space. He met his wife and moved to Wild Rose where they began our sister company, J&J Transplant Aquatic Nursery. As much as Jim enjoyed that career, he decided to start a sporting good store as native plants and hunting & fishing went hand in hand for him. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, who also had lots of knowledge on weapons so he figured he’d have a “little side business”. Over the years, Malchow’s grew bigger and bigger which grabbed Jim’s full-time attention. Now, we have one of the largest gun selections in the area, a beautiful log wall interior making us feel like a cabin in the middle of nowhere, and a customer base who keeps coming back.

In the store you’ll find the owner’s son, Jimmy; daughter, Jessie; and daughter-in-law, Lana working alongside Jim & Kris. If you notice a few of us missing during your visit, most of us work in our sister company for a majority of the spring and summer.
